Since 2000:
Eco Material Technologies has supplied approximately 200 million tons of material for concrete production in projects of all sizes throughout North America. Over the past 25 years, Eco Material has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from concrete production by over 200 million tons—equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of Spain or Thailand.
In 2023:
- Eco Material’s sales of supplementary cementitious material were approximately 6.6 million tons, displacing approximately 5 percent of U.S. cement consumption.
- Over 10 million tons of material was diverted from landfills.
- 5 million tons of CO2 emissions were avoided from the beneficial use of Eco’s products, the equivalent of powering over 769,000 homes for one full year.
- 355,000 tons of material was harvested for beneficial use and 278,600 metric tons of CO2 were avoided by its use.
- 85,000 tons of natural pozzolan were sold and 67,600 metric tons of CO2 were avoided by its use.
- 69,000 tons of green cement was produced and over 50,000 metric tons of CO2 were avoided by its use.
By 2030:
- Eco plans to expand its North American leadership position in low-carbon concrete products by doubling volumes to over 20 million tons, thereby avoiding an additional 6 million metric tons of CO2e versus 2023 levels, or the equivalent of removing 1.4 million cars annually.
- Eco will identify new sustainable sources of SCMs, such as landfilled fly ash, bottom ash, and natural pozzolans, and grow this portion of its sales from approximately 3 percent (in 2021) to 50 percent by 2030.
- Eco will increase the replacement factor of its products to portland cement from 21 percent to 35 percent.
- Eco will boost the use of our products so as to achieve avoided carbon of over 12 million tons of CO2e emissions per year.
