Eco Material Technologies played a key role in the construction of California Polytechnic State University’s new John Madden Football Center, a landmark facility that officially opened on June 6 as the new home of Mustang Football.

The $45 million, 37,690-square-foot football operations building was designed to support student-athletes through state-of-the-art training, recovery, nutrition, and team development spaces. Named in honor of legendary coach and Cal Poly alumnus John Madden, the facility features a weight room, sports medicine suite, nutrition hub, meeting spaces, and other resources dedicated to the success of Mustang Football.

Eco Material Technologies supplied the fly ash used in the project’s concrete mixes, helping the construction team meet a rigorous set of performance requirements. Beyond strength and durability targets, the project incorporated strict carbon specifications that required innovative material solutions.

Designed by Populous and built by Hensel Phelps, the John Madden Football Center demonstrates how supplementary cementitious materials can help deliver high-performing concrete for demanding construction projects. Through collaboration with project partners, Eco Material Technologies contributed to a facility that balances durability, functionality, and environmental performance.

The project is another example of Eco Material Technologies’ commitment to helping customers achieve their construction goals through innovative materials and technical expertise. As demand grows for lower-carbon, high-performance building solutions, Eco continues to support projects that showcase the value of fly ash in modern infrastructure and building construction.
