Company History and Overview
Eco Material Technologies was formed in February 2022 from the merger of Boral Resources—formerly Boral Limited’s North American fly ash business—and Green Cement LLC, a manufacturer of low-carbon cement alternatives. The merger combined two companies with vast resources and experience in the North American supplementary cementitious materials industry. In September 2025 CRH, a leading provider of building materials, acquired Eco Material Technologies and its subsidiaries.
Eco Material Technologies is the leading producer and supplier of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in North America, with the industry’s only true national footprint of terminals, storage, and distribution channels. We serve over 6,000 unique customer locations and recycle 10 million tons per year of material from our 100+ sites across 46 states and Canada.
Eco Material Technologies’ standard SCMs, such as fly ash, can be used to economically produce concrete with enhanced strength, durability, and resistance to chemical and water ingress. Green Cement LLC’s products provide enhanced performance features, including early set times, for specialty applications such as 3D printing and oil well closure.
Through its subsidiary SynMat, Eco Material Technologies is the nation’s largest marketer and distributor of synthetic gypsum. We are also the pre-eminent producer of non-traditional SCMs via beneficiation from landfilled/ponded ash, bottom ash, and natural pozzolans.
Through our Plant Services division, Eco Material Technologies provides mission-critical utility services, including operations support, waste disposal, and environmental remediation. We are the nation’s largest disposal contractor for coal combustion products and have constructed and operated landfills at over 100 utility sites.
Our support services are unparalleled and include a materials research laboratory in Atlanta providing a full range of research and testing capabilities; ability to work with local engineering groups throughout the United States and Canada; and a national logistics team that negotiates competitive freight rates with railroads and trucking companies while coordinating operations of the company’s extensive transportation fleet.
